(Event Summary) Shizuoka Prefecture “Fuji No Kuni” 10 February 2016

Members of the Kansai Consular were invited to participate in the 2016 “Fuji No Kuni” event, hosted by the Shizoka Prefectural government on 10 February 2016.

The event opened with a lecture by the Dean of Shizuoka University, who spoke about the prefecture’s efforts to address its declining birth rate (a nation-wide issue). Over 100 people attended the lecture including representatives from the Russian, Dutch, and Philippines. Consuls-General Wols (Netherlands) and Taguiang (Philippines) personally attended.

A reception followed the lecture. Guests were able to learn about the various industries of Shizuoka and were treated to local specialties. Business and community leaders were among the attendees, creating a wonderful opportunity for Consuls to expand their understanding of and network in Shizuoka Prefecture.
