About the Kansai Consular Corps

Profile

The Kansai Consular Corps (KCC) can trace its roots back to January 1868 with the official opening of Kobe to foreign missions.
The members of the Corps are either National Representatives or Honorary Consuls from nearly 55 countries.

Besides being active mostly in political, economic and cultural matters, as well as providing consular services for their natioinals, the members of the Corps perform an important representative role in Kansai.

The Corps constitutes a unique link between the consular representatives and the national, prefectural and city governments in the region.
Issues of concern to the Corps as a whole or to individual countries are taken up with Japanese officials and the private sector on behalf of its members.
The Corps and its members also inform their respective country about the Kansai region and support its promotional activities.

Through various meetings with the Corps, with prefectural and municipal authorities, leading economic organizations and chamber of commerce, as well as through contacts with the media, the Corps is assuring an international role to the Kansai region.
This is reflected in our slogan, "Bringing Kansai to the World and the World to Kansai."
